For starters, I’ve always been a huge fan of lip products. I always, but really always, carry Melem with me, and with it some kind of lipstick, gloss, or colored balm. I apply the balm about every hour :)) and I neeeed to keep my lips hydrated.
Now that you know that information, it is important to emphasize that I have never been a fan of heavy and terribly pigmented products. For example, I never use a lip liner or wear red or dark lipstick (on the one hand it’s because they don’t really suit me). I prefer and turn to products that are applied easily and reapplied even easier — products that you can apply without having to look in the mirror. I would declare YSL’s LoveShine to be precisely such a product.
YSL describes its LoveShine as “A wet shine lipstick that quenches your thirsty lips with 24H dripping hydration leaving juicy wet shine. Experience our unique transformative texture – from lipstick to wet-shine lip oil. Indulge in luscious colors so easily buildable.” I agree with most of the description. LoveShine does feel like a nourishing balm, but on the lips, it looks like a colored gloss — and I really love it (by the way I prefer glosses to lipsticks)!
The texture of LoveShine is light, airy, and easy to build. It’s easy to apply and you don’t even need a mirror for that. The only thing I would not agree with is the 24-hour hydration… in addition, the lipstick is not very long-lasting, so it needs to be applied often, although, I repeat, It’s easy to apply, so it’s okay. My favorite shades are 150 and 201. Note that I am talking about regular YSL LoveShine, not LoveShine Candy Glaze. It seems heavier and more “dense” to me, which is not to my taste. I haven’t had the chance to try YSL LoveShine Candy Glow.
My overall rating for YSL LoveShine is 7/10. Currently, it’s my go-to lip product (after Melem). The cons that I would mention are that it’s not that long-lasting and is a little more expensive. The recommended retail price (RRP) is 45€, and I got mine on Notino (check this link). I was waiting for a discount, which you can catch quite often, so I got it for 36€. I have not yet found a dupe for this product.
In conclusion, if you like lip products like this, I think it’s worth picking up LoveShine. Maybe you can ask for it as a gift, or treat yourself to the enrollment of the new academic year, or something similar :))
