After adding the MAC Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick to my September wishlist a month ago, it’s time to review it. From that wishlist, I’ve purchased the Avene Cicalfate+ moisturizer, which I’ve already reviewed, and the Alohas Sneaker, which I have yet to review. I’ve been using the MAC lipstick for a month on a few occasions, and here are my thoughts.
As you may know, I don’t like heavy products on my lips, so I usually avoid lipsticks, especially matte ones. MAC claims that their Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick is a “lightweight, raspberry seed and extra-virgin olive oil-infused lipstick that delivers sheer and shiny color with a long-wearing, lustrous finish,” and I have to agree. It really is lightweight—it retains the lipstick formula but gives a lovely shine to the lips. I also find it very nourishing, almost like a lip balm. If I were to compare it to Clinique’s Almost Lipstick and YSL’s Loveshine, I would say it is my least favorite of the three, but only because it feels the heaviest, which is not what I prefer. However, it is the longest-lasting of the bunch, which is a big plus. Additionally, it is cheaper than YSL’s Loveshine and is priced similarly to Clinique’s Almost Lipstick at around €25.

I enjoy wearing this lipstick on nights out, but I don’t wear it daily. I believe this is because I chose the wrong shade. I have it in “Well, Well, Well,” which is a nude shade that isn’t really a daily choice for me. I would prefer something more pinkish. I had hoped this shade would be, but my guess was off. That said, it isn’t excessively nude and works perfectly for a night out. The shade “Thanks, It’s MAC!” was highly recommended on the internet, but through my research, I’ve found that it is even more nude than the shade I have. Still, many girls swear it’s the perfect nude color.
Although this lipstick is a bit heavier than my favorite lip products, it applies beautifully — you don’t even need a mirror. While it’s not my absolute favorite, it’s still high on my list. I would give it an overall score of 6.5/10. If you’re looking for a natural-looking and nourishing lipstick formula, this one is definitely a winner.
