No crusty hands this winter: Best hand creams

Let’s be honest: how many times have your hands been cracked and dry during the winter? I bet it’s happened quite a bit. I experienced the same issue until I decided to take better care of my hands. Dry hands are not only unattractive — they can be painful, and in severe cases, they can even start to bleed. One thing is certain, we definitely want to avoid that. Fortunately, there’s a simple solution. It’s called hand cream. A good hand cream can help protect your hands during the winter months. And when I say “good,” I don’t mean that it has to be expensive — it really doesn’t!

I use hand cream throughout the year whenever my hands need it. However, during the winter, I apply it daily. I always put on hand cream before I go to sleep and sometimes during the day. One useful tip is to keep a smaller tube of hand cream in your bag so you can reapply it as needed. Another great idea is to wear gloves to help protect your hands from damage. After all these tips, I’ll share some of my favorite hand creams.

48 Protective Hand Cream

This is my absolute favorite product. However, I’m not sure if it’s widely available outside of Europe. I avoided trying it for a long time because it was so cheap. I assumed the quality wouldn’t be good. But I was completely wrong. It’s perfect — super nourishing, not greasy, absorbs quickly, and has a wonderful scent. The best part is that it costs only 1,45€ for 50ml!

Mixa Allantoin Restore

I’ve been using this cream for a long time until I discovered the 48 Protective cream. It’s quite similar, but this one is slightly greasier. I noticed that Mixa has changed its packaging and names, but I believe the one I used is the one formulated for extremely dry hands. It’s called Mixa Allantoin Restore, and it costs around 4,40€ for 100ml.

L’occitane Hand Cream Karite

I’m including this hand cream because it’s probably the most popular in the world, and that’s somewhat justified. It’s called Hand Cream Karite with 20% shea butter. There is also an intensive version with 25% shea butter. I tried a tester, and I must say it’s really nice. It has a soft yet pleasant scent, a great texture, and is very rich and super hydrating. However, I would prefer it if it absorbed a bit more quickly. If you put it on right before you need to work, you’ll end up transferring it everywhere. The main downside is the price — 26,50€ for 150ml. Although I think this hand cream is excellent, I wouldn’t purchase it for that amount. I would love to receive it as a gift, though!
